Mike's City Diner is located in the South End. This is as authentic as diners get, right down to the black-and-white checked tablecloths. Harried but friendly waitresses dart from table to table with trays of food, stepping around hungry patrons waiting for a seat. Piped-in Elvis Presley croons over the din of noisy customers. Regulars get the nod from behind the counter; coffee arrives without a word being uttered. A cross-section of South Enders and urbanites makes for prime people-watching, and no one seems to mind the cramped quarters.
Tip: Portions are uniformly huge; couples and cash-strapped students should consider sharing.

Symphony Mart is a small convenience store on the corner of Boylston and Hemenway St. They have everything - including a small assortment of hookahs, rare international food, and other random necessities. It is a local favorite for its prime location and 24/7 status. There is also an ATM inside.

A typical convenience store located at the corner of Westland and Hemenway. Don't be fooled by the sign outside - they no longer rent movies. But they still have a variety of snacks and other odds and ends. They are however, open Sunday - Thursday from 7 am - 12 pm and Friday - Saturday 7 am - 1 am. They have an ATM inside.
